We live in an anxious world that is rapidly changing. As Christians, we are not unaffected by this sea of change, being influenced by media, in our jobs and neighborhoods, and by friends and family. What sort of training do you offer?

Vineyard Institute has something for everybody!

We offer a library of over 35 courses with a variety of training topics, from Kingdom Theology to courses in specialized ministry areas such as missions, local leadership or evangelism.

What are the Library Courses?

Library Courses are designed to be flexible for all students. Each course is comprised of several learning blocks of course material and reading assignments. Every Library Course has optional Learning Block quizzes and occasionally a final assignment which differs based on the course material. If you choose to complete all of the assessments in a Library Course you will be able to unlock a downloadable PDF Certificate of Course Completion.

There is no schedule in a Library Course but if you would like to receive the Certificate of Course Completion you must complete all of the assessments within 6 months of purchasing the course. In most courses you must receive at least 70% or higher on all quizzes and must complete the final assignment when applicable. All quizzes are open book, do not have a time restriction and can be taken as many times as you want to improve your grade.

What is the Learning Block Format?

Uniformity for all Courses! We have redesigned and upgraded all courses* and they are all in the same format:
- Learning Blocks – Each course is broken down into an average of 8 learning blocks – one topic per block – each block has a video lecture or set of video lectures to watch
- A quiz after each learning block – no longer have larger mid-term or final exams but a quiz at the end of each topic
- Practical application exercise - Some courses include a final exercise at the end that will give you a chance to apply what you’ve learned and tell us about it
Convenience to Fit with Your Busy Schedule. Within each quarter, a student can go at their own pace of each course – no longer are assignments dictated by which week of the course you are in. You can finish in one week with all 8 learning blocks or can take as much time as you need to fit your schedule.
Easier to Manage Taking Multiple Courses at the Same Time. With the new Learning Block format – it is now easier to take 2 courses in the same quarter but only do the work one course at a time. For example, taking course 1 for the first 5 weeks and then taking course 2 for the next 5 weeks….go at your own pace within the 10 weeks of the quarter.
Consistent Studying…Smaller exams with each learning block enables a student to study on a more consistent schedule instead of cramming for big mid-term and final exams.

How much time does each course take?

On average, you can expect to spend about 4 to 5 hours a week reading, writing, collaborating, and studying for exams. It is important to note that though you will spend some time interacting with other students and mentors, much of the content can be scheduled around your schedule, taking advantage of times when you’re available, in 30-45 minute bites online over 10 weeks.

What if I just want to take courses and not take exams?

Our Library courses are designed to be flexible for students who just want to work through the material or for students who want to challenge themselves and do the exams and other assessments to help process the information. All of the course material is available immediately and can be done without taking any exams or doing any assignments.

When can I join Vineyard Institute?

Anytime! Students can start VI at any time during the year by signing up here. Once you signup, you will receive an email from us with your log-in credentials and then can go into the library and pay for a course at any time.

How can I obtain a copy of my transcript for my own use?

If you are a current VI student you can login to myVI and click on Transcript in the Resources menu. You can print an unofficial copy for your own records. Can I receive credit for the VI classes that I take?

VI no longer offers credit for a certificate program. Each course you take is for your own personal benefit in being trained as a disciple in the kingdom of God. If you complete the optional quizzes and assessments in the course you can unlock a downloadable PDF Course Completion Certificate for that course.

What is a Learning Community?

A learning community is a group of students studying together in the local church. Each LC is led by a local church pastor or appointed student leader, who engages the students in dialogue about the courses they’re taking in a small group style environment.

When Learning Communities are hosted at a local church, the site pastor/delegated leader is invited to collaborate with VI to shape both the curriculum and ministry mentoring opportunities around their particular church.

I am the only one at my church currently interested in taking VI courses. Can I take courses online?

Absolutely. We have cutting edge software tailored for effective ministry training.

Is there a minimum of students required at my church site?

No. But we encourage churches to build a learning community of students and leaders who meet regularly to pray, worship, and discuss what they are learning in the course material.

Who is supporting the ministry of Vineyard Institute?

The global Vineyard family. For the first time in history, Vineyards from around the world have come together to create and own Vineyard Institute. Currently, seven AVC’s are supporting and implementing Vineyard Institute in their countries or regions: Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands & Luxemburg), Norden (Norway, Denmark, Finland & Sweden), South Africa, Kenya, Brazil, UK / Ireland, and the USA.

Our adjunct faculty comes from all over the world under the leadership of Derek Morphew, our Academic Dean, who is from South Africa. Our goal is to employ the best theologians and practitioners both in and outside the Vineyard movement to equip and empower you to effectively answer God’s calling on your life and leadership in today’s world.
